The course introduces the basics of parallel programming with the message passing interface (MPI) paradigm. The course consists of lectures and hands-on exercises on parallel programming. After the course the participants should be able to write simple parallel programs and parallelize existing programs with the basic features of MPI.
The Fortran workshop is a no-nonsense introduction to perhaps the most widely used HPC programming language. The course will give the participants basic knowledge on the Fortran 95 programming language (with glimpses on the later revisions of the Fortran standard) and its most useful constructs. Both days include lectures and practical hands-on exercises. At the end of the course the attendees will be able to write small Fortran programs and understand legacy software written in Fortran.
