PRACE is pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Anwar Osseyran, Chair of the PRACE Council, member of the Executive Board of SURF and CEO of SURFsara, is the recipient of the HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Award in the category: “Outstanding Leadership in HPC”. The award was presented by Tom Tabor, CEO of Tabor Communications, publisher of HPCwire, to Anwar Osseyran on Tuesday 14 November 2017 at the PRACE booth at the 2017 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC17), in Denver, Colorado.
Anwar Osseyran, as Chair of the PRACE Council, gathered and engaged 25 European organisations, supported by their governments, to harmonise their different objectives, and finally to commit to the PRACE 2 programme, ratified in spring 2017. This outstanding achievement provides a fertile basis for the sustainability of PRACE as the European research infrastructure, fostering world leading science and industrial competitiveness in Europe through supercomputing.Anwar Osseyran has been the CEO of SURFsara, the Dutch national HPC Center for more than 15 years, and is part-time Professor of Business Analytics and Computer Science at the University of Amsterdam.
